Mike MacLennan

Biography

Mike is an English composer, arranger and conductor. Having originally started out as a pianist and drummer, before focussing on composition and studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.

He has since gone on to compose soundtracks for TV & film, working from his studio in Oxfordshire. For television, he has written music for the first two seasons of the hit Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour (starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May) with Rage Music, as well as several BBC documentaries, including the BAFTA Scotland nominated series Planet Oil. He has also scored a number of short films, including Man Of The Land (starring Michael Byrne), La Boulangerie, and the animated short Mr. Plastimime, directed by Oscar winning director Daniel Greaves. Alongside his TV and film work, Mike scores trailers & commercials. Recent work in this area includes scoring the cinematic trailer for the Bethesda Softworks video game Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset with Rage Music.

He also writes production music for Zone Music, Soho Production Music and Aurora Production Music, through which he has had tracks used in various productions worldwide by the BBC, ITV, Fox, CNN and Marvel Studios.

As well as composing, Mike works as an arranger and conductor. As conductor he has worked with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Big Band. Recent arranging and orchestration credits include Stephen Hawking's Favourite Places for composer Sheridan Tongue, as well as Mcasso's sonic branding package for BBC Local Radio.
