Mike MacLennan

Biography

Mike is an English composer, arranger and conductor. Having originally started out as a pianist and drummer, he then focused on composition and studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.

He has since gone on to compose soundtracks for TV & film, working from his studio in Oxfordshire. Most recently, Mike has co-scored the hit Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour (starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May) with Rage Music, as well as short films Man Of The Land and La Boulangerie. He has also scored several documentary series, including the BAFTA Scotland nominated series Planet Oil for BBC Four and The Quest for Bannockburn for BBC2, also with Rage Music. As well as TV and film work, Mike has scored an array of adverts, most recently for brands such as Highland Spring, Habitat and The Famous Grouse, plus he regularly writes production music for Zone Music and Soho Production Music.

Alongside his work as a composer, Mike works as an arranger and conductor. As conductor he has worked with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Big Band. Recent arranging and orchestration credits include Stephen Hawking's Favourite Places for composer Sheridan Tongue, as well as Mcasso's sonic branding package for BBC Local Radio.
